In a corner of Maryland, right next to the nation’s Capital, Eric grew up in a home built on the Bible and brimming with rhythm, rhyme and melody. There, he gained a love for music before he could even walk. But it was during undergrad at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, with the help of patient parents, faithful friends and John Piper sermon transcripts, that He fell in love with the Savior.
He graduated in 2007 with a degree in African-American Music and later that year, ended up at Covenant Life Church in Maryland where he would intern and serve as a Music Director. During that time he kept encountering a question: “how do we equip local churches to sing the timeless truths of Scripture in ways that faithfully embrace and transcend their cultural context?” Now, after years of performing in a variety of genres, and a decade of leading worship in song, he is aiming to create resources to aid local churches in answering that question.
Eric has been privileged to contribute to several independent and national releases as a composer, co-writer and vocalist. Eric and his wife Monielle are members of Risen Christ Fellowship in Philadelphia. There—with their children Ellington, Keziah and August Xavier—they seek to build their home on the Bible while making rhythm, rhyme, and melody.
